Kanonenfieber touren derzeit mit ihrer „Soldatenschicksale“ Tour und erfreuen sich fast allerorts über ausverkaufte Hallen. Als Support waren Mental Cruelty aus Karlsruhe mit dabei. Hatte ich schon damit gerechnet, dass die Lichtbedingungen der Hauptband für Fotografen katastrophal sein würden, zeigten Mental Cruelty, dass es noch derber geht. Ich war überzeugt, dass ich das erste Mal überhaupt nicht ein einziges halbwegs brauchbares Foto hinbekomme. Das Licht einer Kerze wäre bei den Karlsruhern vergleichbar gewesen wie Flutlicht bei gut ausgeleuchteten Bands. Das spärlich erschienene Fotografen-Pack war siech einig, das der Fokus dieses Mal eher auf „künstlerisch“ akzeptable Fotos, denn auf gewohnte Ausbeute ausgerichtet sein würde.
Wie auch immer: dem Publikum schien es egal zu sein, ob sie die Musiker auf der Bühne sehen, geschweige denn erkennen konnten. Hauptsache musikalisch musste der Support passen, was dann offensichtlich auch der Fall war.
Kanonenfieber are currently on their “Soldatenschicksale” tour and are playing to sold-out venues almost everywhere they go. Mental Cruelty from Karlsruhe were there as the opening act. I had already expected the lighting conditions for the headlining band to be disastrous for photographers, but Mental Cruelty proved that things could get even worse. I was convinced that, for the first time ever, I wouldn’t manage to get a single halfway decent photo. The light from a candle would have been comparable to floodlights for well-lit bands when it came to the guys from Karlsruhe. The sparse crowd of photographers agreed that the focus this time would be more on “artistically” acceptable photos than on the usual haul.
Anyway: the audience didn’t seem to care whether they could see the musicians on stage, let alone recognize them. The main thing was that the support band had to be musically on point, which was obviously the case.
