Ich war nie ein Savatage „Die Hard“ Fan, bin aber relativ früh musikalisch mit den Jungs aus Tampa/Florida in Kontakt gekommen. „Power Of The Night“ war mein Savatage-Einstieg und mit „Hall Of The Mountain King“ hatten mich die Jungs im Griff. Ich bin wohl einer der Wenigen, der die Frühphase von Savatage deutlich interessanter fand, als die Kult-Periode ab „Gutter Ballet„. Leider hat sich mir nie die Möglichkeit eröffnet, die Band live zu sehen und so war ich um so aufgeregter, dass Wacken 2026 die Gelegenheit bot. Aus gesundheitlichen Gründen konnte Mastermind Jon Oliva leider nicht bei diesem Auftritt dabei sein. Dennoch war das Konzert sehr beeindruckend und erzeugte durchaus Gänsehaut.
I was never a die-hard Savatage fan, but I was introduced to the guys from Tampa, Florida, relatively early on. “Power of the Night” was my first Savatage album, and by the time “Hall of the Mountain King” came out, they had me hooked. I’m probably one of the few who found Savatage’s early phase much more interesting than their cult period starting with “Gutter Ballet.” Unfortunately, I never had the chance to see the band live, so I was all the more excited that Wacken 2026 offered that opportunity. For health reasons, mastermind Jon Oliva was unfortunately unable to be part of this performance. Nevertheless, the concert was very impressive and definitely gave me goosebumps.
