Das Beispiel Nestor macht deutlich, wie wenig man den Geschmack der Plattenfirmen beeinflussen kann. Im Fall der Schweden hat in den Achtzigern/Neunzigern keine Sau für die Band interessiert, so dass man 1995 frustriert das Handtuch geworfen und sich von der Musik abgewandt hat.
2021 hats den Jungs aber wieder in den Fingern gekribbelt, so dass man das „alte“ Material erneut der Musikindustrie angeboten hat. Und siehe da, mit einer Verzögerung von rund 30 Jahren hats auf einmal geknallt und Nestor bekommen nun den Erfolg, den sie meiner Meinung nach schon in den Achtzigern verdient gehabt hätten. Auf der Headbangers Stage räumten die Jungs nun (wieder) unter dem Wacken Banner ab und lieferten zu 100%. Die Leute im Publikum, die die Band bis dato noch nicht kannten, waren sofort überzeugt und gingen ab wie Schmidts Katze.
Schade nur, dass es immer noch wie verrückt goss, so dass ich langsam Angst um meine Kameras hatte. Ich wollte anschließend noch Skynd und Ozzyfied sehen, habe dann aber wegen des saumäßigen Wetters mit Nestor meinen ersten Tag beim WOA beendet / beenden müssen.
The example of Nestor clearly shows how little influence one has on the tastes of record companies. In the case of the Swedes, no one was interested in the band in the 1980s/1990s, so in 1995 they threw in the towel in frustration and turned their backs on music.
In 2021, however, the guys got the itch again, so they offered their “old” material to the music industry once more. And lo and behold, with a delay of around 30 years, it suddenly took off and Nestor are now enjoying the success that, in my opinion, they deserved back in the 1980s. Better late than never…
On the Headbangers Stage, the guys now (once again) cleaned up under the Wacken banner and delivered 100%. The people in the audience who didn’t know the band before were immediately convinced and went wild.
It’s just a shame that it was still pouring with rain, so I was slowly starting to worry about my cameras. I wanted to see Skynd and Ozzyfied afterwards, but because of the terrible weather, I had to end my first day at WOA with Nestor.
