Das Wacken Open Air 2025 wird als eines der regenreisten Jahrgänge in Deutschlands Norden in die Annalen der Metal Geschichte eingehen. Heftige Regenfälle im Wechsel mit Sonne, blauem Himmel, Wolken und verträglichem Landregen.
Die Orga war wie schon in den Vorjahren klasse; da, wo jetzt Unwetter reingrätschte, wurden auftretende „Mängel“ gut und zeitnah behoben.
An das regnerische Wetter hatte man sich schnell gewöhnt. Am ersten Tag noch nervig, zuckte man am zweiten schon gleichgültig mit den Achseln.
Meine persönliche Bilanz: in Wacken 80,8 km gelaufen, 111724 Schritte gegangen, ca 13000 Fotos gemacht (genaue Zahl muss ich checken) und leider „nur“ 67 Bands fotografiert. Der Starkregen und Matsch machten das Fotografieren immer wieder unmöglich. Gefühlt wurde über uns zeitweise Badewannen voll Wasser ausgeschüttet. Das wollte man den Kameras nicht zumuten. Trotz allem sind bei einigen Kolleginnen und Kollegen Kameras, Objektive und Akkus „gestorben“.
Am Mittwoch, dem ersten offiziellen WOA Tag, stieg ich mit dem Metal Battle Gewinner Deutschlands, Gun Called Britney, ins Geschehen ein und war sowohl von der Mucke als auch vom Stage Acting angetan. Als erste Band auf die W.E.T Stage zu steigen und gleich Alarm zu machen, war eine tolle Leistung. Die Hamburger sollte man unbedingt im Auge behalten.
Wacken Open Air 2025 will go down in the annals of metal history as one of the rainiest years in the north of Germany. Heavy rainfall alternating with sun, blue skies, clouds and tolerable country rain.
As in previous years, the organization was great; where storms did come in, any “shortcomings” that occurred were rectified promptly and effectively.
We quickly got used to the rainy weather. On the first day it was still annoying, but by the second day people were shrugging their shoulders indifferently.
My personal results: I walked 80.8 km in Wacken, walked 111724 steps, took about 13000 photos (I have to check the exact number) and unfortunately “only” photographed 67 bands. The heavy rain and mud made it impossible to take photos again and again. It felt like bathtubs full of water were being poured over us at times. We didn’t want to put the cameras through that. Despite everything, some of our colleagues‘ cameras, lenses and batteries “died”.
On Wednesday, the first official WOA day, I got into the action with the Metal Battle winner from Germany, Gun Called Britney, and was impressed by both the music and the stage acting. To be the first band on the W.E.T Stage and to immediately set the alarm was a great performance. You should definitely keep an eye on these guys from Hamburg.
