Ich war erst das zweite Mal auf dem Sicking High Rock Festival, und trotzdem war es ein „nach hause kommen“ Gefühl. Die rührige Crew um Matthias „Luly“ Walz und Alexandra Maus machen es jedem sehr einfach, sich gleich in der „neuen“ Familie willkommen zu fühlen.
Leider lief das Festival nicht ganz so entspannt ab, wie man es gewohnt war. Luly war gesundheitlich eingeschränkt, wurde aber von Alex bravourös vertreten. Einen Tag vor dem Festival sagten leider Skull & Crossbones aus gesundheitlichen Gründen ab; man hatte noch versucht, auf die Schnelle einen Ersatz zu bekommen, leider vergebens. Glück im Unglück, denn auch das Wetter machte, Crew, Bands und Publikum zu schaffen: Temperaturen um die 40°C waren eine extreme Herausforderung für jedermann.
Mit Rock Meets Brass ging es um 15:00 Uhr los und das kleine Pendant zu den Wacken Firefightes läutete das tolle Festival traditionell ein.
It was only my second time at the Sicking High Rock Festival, and yet it felt like “coming home.” The energetic crew led by Matthias “Luly” Walz and Alexandra Maus makes it very easy for everyone to feel welcome right away in their “new” family.
Unfortunately, the festival didn’t go quite as smoothly as usual. Luly was unable to attend due to health issues, but Alex stepped in and did a brilliant job filling in for him. Sadly, Skull & Crossbones had to cancel just one day before the festival for health reasons; the organizers tried to find a last-minute replacement, but unfortunately to no avail. It was a blessing in disguise, though, because the weather was also taking its toll on the crew, bands, and audience: temperatures around 40°C were an extreme challenge for everyone.
Rock Meets Brass kicked things off at 3:00 p.m., and this smaller counterpart to the Wacken Firefights traditionally kicked off the fantastic festival.
