Blaze Bayley machte beim Detze 2026 am Samstag den Deckel drauf. Unwetter hatten sich heute fern gehalten und zu später Abendzeit waren die Temperaturen halbwegs erträglich.
Blaze hatte bereits 2022 auf dem Detze gespielt. Dieses Jahr war er ursprünglich nicht als Headliner geplant. Die relativ kurzfristige und sehr bedauerliche Absage von Hauptact Riot indes hievten ihn im Billing nach oben.
Die Diskussion, wer, warum der bessere Maiden Sänger war/ist, will ich gar nicht führen. Das Thema kann man eigentlich nur totreden. Fakt ist, dass der Brite ohne Frage seine Anhänger hat und dass der Iron Maiden Set beim Publikum mehr als gut ankam. Das lag aber ohne Zweifel auch an der grandiosen Band des Sängers. Blaze bedient sich seit längerem der kompletten Absolva Mannschaft, die wie eine Bank hinter dem Shouter steht.
Was die Setlist allerdings anging: da hätte ich mir ein paar andere Songs gewünscht. Aber das Leben ist kein Wunschkonzert….
Leider wurde mir die Möglichkeit von Bayleys Lebensgefährtin genommen, Drummer Martin McNee von der Bühne abzulichten. „No pctures from the stage!“ „Why?“ „Because I’m his wife“. Tolle Begründung. Tut mir echt leid für Martin, aber da konnte ich nichts machen….
Zwanzig Minuten nach Mitternacht war dann das Der Detze Rockt Festival 2026 Geschichte. Erneut eine gute Orga, die allerdings hier und da im Vergleich zu den Vorjahren einige Änderungen ins Spiel gebracht hat, die nicht nur bei mir ein Geschmäckle hinterließ.
Was das Billing anging, wäre die Ursprüngliche Planung mit 1349 und Riot noch einen Tick geiler gewesen; aber da steckt man als Veranstalter nicht drin; und es kann durchaus schlimmer kommen: siehe das ACFM Festival im Mai.

Blaze had already played at Detze in 2022. He wasn’t originally scheduled to headline this year. However, the relatively last-minute and very unfortunate cancellation by the headliner, Riot, moved him up in the lineup.
I don’t even want to get into the debate about who was—or is—the better Iron Maiden singer and why. That topic is basically a dead end. The fact is that the Brit undoubtedly has his fans, and that the Iron Maiden set went over extremely well with the audience. But that was undoubtedly also due to the singer’s magnificent band. Blaze has long relied on the entire Absolva crew, who stand behind him like a rock.
As for the setlist, though, I would have liked to hear a few different songs. But life isn’t a request show….
Unfortunately, Bayley’s partner denied me the chance to take a photo of drummer Martin McNee from the stage. “No pictures from the stage!” “Why?” “Because I’m his wife.” Great excuse. I really feel bad for Martin, but there was nothing I could do….
Twenty minutes past midnight, the 2026 Der Detze Rockt Festival was over. Once again, the organization was solid, though here and there—compared to previous years—they introduced a few changes that left a bad taste in my mouth, and I’m not the only one who felt that way.
As for the lineup, the original plan featuring 1349 and Riot would have been just a tad cooler; but as an organizer, there’s not much you can do about that; and things could definitely be worse—just look at the ACFM Festival in May.
