Nach ca einer Stunde war das Unwetter weitergezogen, die Technik wurde gecheckt, und es konnte weitergehen. Um keine Band unverrichteter Dinge nach Hause zu schicken, wurden alle Sets der nachfolgenden Acts um einige Songs gekürzt, so dass zum Schluss alles wieder im ursprünglichen Zeitplan war.
Midnight Prey aus Hamburg hatten für ihren Set nun fünf Songs zur Verfügung. Allerdings riss schon beim Soundcheck eine Saite von Winston Zillers Gitarre. Saite Nummer zwei gab beim zweiten Song den Geist auf, so dass der eh schon kurze Set unterbrochen werden musste, da Winston offensichtlich keine Ersatz Klampfe dabei hatte.
Zum Leitwesen der anderen Bandmitglieder mussten nun Basser Daniel Friesen und Drummer Hannes Ruhland jede Menge Hohn und Spott über sich ergehen lassen. Dafür, dass die Band bereits vierzehn Jahre auf dem Buckel hat, war das Saiten Desaster eigentlich nicht entschuldbar.
Allerdings ist eines gewiss: Midnight Prey spielten vielleicht nicht ihr bestes Konzert, werden aber nachhaltig in den Köpfen der Besucher bleiben. Ist doch auch schon mal was….
After about an hour, the storm had passed, the equipment was checked, and the show could continue. To avoid sending any band home without having performed, all the sets for the subsequent acts were shortened by a few songs, so that by the end, everything was back on the original schedule.
Midnight Prey from Hamburg now had five songs available for their set. However, a string on Winston Ziller’s guitar snapped during the soundcheck. The second string gave out during the second song, forcing an interruption to the already short set, since Winston obviously didn’t have a spare guitar with him.
Much to the chagrin of the other band members, bassist Daniel Friesen and drummer Hannes Ruhland now had to endure a barrage of mockery and ridicule. Considering the band has been around for fourteen years, the string disaster was really inexcusable.
One thing is certain, though: Midnight Prey may not have played their best concert, but they’ll remain firmly etched in the minds of the audience. That’s something, at least….
