20 Jahre ACFM Festival! Das ist in der heutigen Zeit schon eine Hausnummer, die jede Menge Respekt verdient. 20 Jahre Familientreffen! 20 Jahre eine aufreibende Orga, die man Jahr für Jahr mit einem perfekten Team glänzend zu einem denkwürdigen Ereignis zu stemmen vermochte.
2026 erneut in der Ochtendunger Kulturhalle, einer wahren Perle unter den Venues. Tolles Ambiente, riesige Bühne und exzellenter Sound machen das jährliche Spektakel zu einem außergewöhnlichen Ereignis.
Die Bands, die das Vergnügen haben, beim ACFM Festival aufzutreten, waren allesamt immer begeistert von der rührenden, perfekten Betreuung und von der Begeisterung des Publikums.
Dass ausgerechnet das 20 jährige Jubiläum zu einer Herausforderung einer ganz anderen Art werden würde, hätte im Vorfeld niemand zu träumen gewagt. Viermal (!!!) wurden Jan Müller und Team mit Absagen von Bands konfrontiert. Steelpreacher und knapp vor dem Festival Hiraes aus gesundheitlichen Gründen; Cobra Spell (Gotts sei Dank) mit etwas Vorlauf, weil man sich schlicht entschieden hatte, die Band für unbestimmte Zeit auf Eis zu legen, und dann während des laufenden Festivals am Freitag die Absage von Tailgunner ohne findierte Aussage über die Gründe. Die Stellungnahme des Managements: „Due to some unforeseen circumstances Tailgunner will be unable to perform at A Chance For Metal tomorrow.“ So etwas ist unprofessionell und wird zukünftig andere Veranstalter zur Vorsicht mahnen, wenn es darum geht, die Band zu buchen. Das ACFM Team konnte quasi auf Zuruf The Night Eternal, verpflichten, am Samstag den Headliner Part zu übernahmen, was übrigens definitiv nicht nach einer „Notlösung“ aussah.
Nach dem Festival verkündete „Macher“ Jan Müller, dass er nach zwanzig Jahren etwas kürzer treten wolle und in die zweite Reihe des Teams treten werde. Seine Position wird nun von Marvin Asbach (was für ein Name) übernommen, der bereits seit vielen Jahren ein wichtiges Rädchen im Orga Team ist. Bleibt Jan danke zu sagen für all die Jahre und Marvin viel Glück zu wünschen!
Nun denn, nach viel Karaoke eröffneten Disreality am Freitag den Live Reigen. Die Kölner Death/Thrash Band legte als erste von 13 Bands des Festivals einen energiegeladenen Auftritt hin und lockten schon zu früher Tagesstunde jede Menge Banger in die Halle.
Ein klasse Start in zwei bombige Tage.
20 years of the ACFM Festival! In this day and age, that’s quite an achievement that deserves a lot of respect. 20 years of family reunions! 20 years of grueling organization that, year after year, a perfect team has managed to pull off brilliantly, turning it into a memorable event.
In 2026, we’ll be back at the Ochtendung Cultural Hall, a true gem among venues. A great atmosphere, a massive stage, and excellent sound make this annual spectacle an extraordinary event.
The bands that have had the pleasure of performing at the ACFM Festival have always been thrilled by the warm, perfect hospitality and the enthusiasm of the audience.
No one could have imagined beforehand that the 20th anniversary, of all things, would turn into a challenge of a completely different kind. Jan Müller and his team were faced with cancellations from bands four times (!!!). Steelpreacher and, just before the festival, Hiraes due to health reasons; Cobra Spell (thank God) with some advance notice, because they had simply decided to put the band on hiatus indefinitely; and then, during the festival on Friday, the cancellation by Tailgunner without any specific explanation of the reasons. The management’s statement: “Due to some unforeseen circumstances, Tailgunner will be unable to perform at A Chance For Metal tomorrow.” This kind of thing is unprofessional and will make other organizers think twice in the future when it comes to booking the band. The ACFM team was able to sign The Night Eternal virtually on the spot to take over the headlining slot on Saturday, which, by the way, definitely didn’t look like a “stopgap solution.”
After the festival, “organizer” Jan Müller announced that after twenty years, he wanted to take a step back and move to the second tier of the team. His position will now be taken over by Marvin Asbach (what a name), who has been an important cog in the organizing team for many years. All that’s left is to thank Jan for all these years and wish Marvin the best of luck!
Well then, after plenty of karaoke, Disreality kicked off the live performances on Friday. The Cologne-based death/thrash band was the first of the festival’s 13 acts to deliver an energetic set, drawing a huge crowd of headbangers into the venue even early in the day.
A great start to two awesome days.
