Doro Pesch hat am Wochenende im Dinosaurierpark Teufelsschlucht (Eifel) eine eigens für sie gestalteten Fossil-Auszeichnung erhalten, die auf ein nach ihr benanntes Fossil zurückgeht! Der Name: Ophiopetagno doro.
Eine neu beschriebene Art, die mit unseren heutigen Seesternen verwandt ist und 2024 von einem internationalen Paläontologen-Team auf der schwedischen Insel Gotland entdeckt wurde.
Da die involvierten Paläontologen Dr. Lea Numberger-Thuy und Ben Thuy selber große Metal Fans sind, geben sie ihren Neuentdeckungen Namen von Metal, Punk und Rock Größen. So befindet sich Doro in bester Gesellschaft z.B. mit Lemmy, King Diamond, Dio oder Alisa White-Gluz.
Dr. Lea Numberger-Thuy berichtete, dass bei der Arbeit auch ständig Metal liefe, was dem Team auch hier und da über Durststrecken und Frustrationen hinweggeholfen habe.
Für Doro wurde deshalb nun eine exklusive Skulptur mit einer lebensechten Rekonstruktion des Schlangensterns in Metal-Optik geschaffen – ein Unikat, das Wissenschaft und Musik symbolisch verbindet. Die künstlerisch gestaltete Trophäe stammt von der dänischen Modellbaufirma 10tons, die auf hochwertige Nachbildungen fossiler Tiere für internationale Museen und Ausstellungen spezialisiert ist.
Ebenso nahm Doro eine Axt entgegen, die der Axt von „Conqueress – Forever Strong and Proud“ nachempfunden wurde und auf deren Axtblättern Ophiopetagno doro eingearbeitet wurde.
Im Rahmen ihres Besuchs im Dinosaurierpark Teufelsschlucht nahm Doro die Trophäe persönlich entgegen und bekam erstmals auch das nach ihr benannte Original-Fossil – das millimetergroße Fragment eines Schlangensterns aus dem Silur, etwa 424 Millionen Jahre alt – zu Gesicht.
Wie groß der Einfluss von Doro speziell in den Staaten ist wird deutlich, dass erst nach Bekanntgabe ihrer Patenschaft für Ophiopetagno doro das US-amerikanischen Museum in Oklahoma erstmals die Ausstellung für ihr Museum angefragt hat.
Nach der Zeremonie ging es dann noch für ein Shooting durch den Dinosaurier Park.

In den alten Meeren, die das heutige Gotland bedeckten, lebte vor Jahrmillionen ein Schlangenstern, der in der Evolution dieser Tiergruppe eine Vorreiterrolle einnimmt. Seitdem haben Schlangensterne die Weltmeere erobert und gehören zu den wichtigsten Tieren auf dem Meeresboden.

At the weekend, Doro Pesch received a specially designed fossil trophy at the Teufelsschlucht Dinosaur Park (Eifel), which is based on a fossil named after her! The name: Ophiopetagno doro.
A newly described species that is related to our modern-day starfish and was discovered in 2024 by an international team of palaeontologists on the Swedish island of Gotland.
As the paleontologists involved, Dr. Lea Numberger-Thuy and Ben Thuy, are big metal fans themselves, they gave their new discoveries names of metal, punk and rock greats. So Doro is in the best of company with Lemmy, King Diamond, Dio and Allisa White-Gluez, for example.
Dr. Lea Numberger-Thuy reported that metal was also constantly being played at work, which helped the team to get through dry spells and frustrations here and there.
An exclusive sculpture with a lifelike reconstruction of the brittle star in a metal look has therefore now been created for Doro – a unique piece that symbolically combines science and music. The artistically designed trophy comes from the Danish model-making company 10tons, which specializes in high-quality replicas of fossil animals for international museums and exhibitions.
Doro also received an axe based on the act from “Conqueress – Forever Strong and Proud”, with Ophiopetagno doro carved into the axe blades.
During her visit to the Devil’s Gorge Dinosaur Park, Doro accepted the trophy in person and also got to see the original fossil named after her for the first time – the millimeter-sized fragment of a brittle star from the Silurian, around 424 million years old.
The great influence of Doro, especially in the United States, is clear from the fact that it was only after her sponsorship of Ophiopetagno doro was announced that the US museum in Oklahoma requested the exhibition for its museum for the first time.
