Uriah Heep<\/strong>s „The Magician’s Farewell Tour<\/strong>“ bedeutete nicht, dass es sich um die Abschiedstour der Briten handelt. Diese wurde f\u00fcr das kommende Jahr angek\u00fcndigt. F\u00e4lschlicherweise hatte ich den Titel mit dem Album „The Magacian’s Birthday<\/strong>“ in Verbindung gebracht und erwartet, dass es sich haupts\u00e4chlich um die Songs dieses Albums drehen w\u00fcrde. Da spielte offensichtlich eine „Freudsche Fehlleistung“ Schabernack mit mir.
\nStatt dessen brachten die Jungs um Originalmitglied Mick Box<\/strong> und den „neuen“ S\u00e4nger Bernie Shaw<\/strong> einen exzellenten Querschnitt durch die Schaffensjahre seit der Gr\u00fcndung 1969. F\u00fcr die Bezeichnung „neuer“ S\u00e4nger muss ich mich allerdings entschuldigen; schlie\u00dflich ist das Sangestalent bereits seit 1986 in der Band. Da ich aber als 60er Jahrgang mit Heep<\/strong> aufgewachsen bin, ist mit David Byron<\/strong> stets sehr pr\u00e4sent gewesen.
\nUriah Heep<\/strong> rissen an diesem Abend die H\u00fctte ab und begeisterten das Publikum von der ersten bis zur letzten Minute. Von der Energie und vor allem der Spielfreude der Jungs, kann sich so manche junge Band eine geh\u00f6rige Scheibe abschneiden.
\nWieder einmal eine tolle Show der Hard Rock Urgesteine, die schon Vorfreude auf die angek\u00fcndigte Abschied Tour aufkommen l\u00e4sst.<\/p>\n

Abschlie\u00dfend noch ein paar Worte zu den Fotoregeln. Durften wir akkreditierte Fotografen noch bei den Supportbands aus dem Graben fotografieren, hie\u00df es bei Heep,<\/strong> in den hinteren Teil der Halle zum FOH<\/strong> (Front Of House – Mischpult) abzuwandern. Nur von dort durften wir arbeiten. Leider wurde das im Vorfeld auch nicht angek\u00fcndigt, so dass man sich mit Hockern etc h\u00e4tte darauf einstellen k\u00f6nnen. Ich bezweifel, dass es Band-Wunsch gewesen war, uns Fotografen aus dem Graben zu verbannen. Eher eine „Marotte“ des Veranstalters oder des Managements, was ich f\u00fcr extrem respektlos der fotografierenden Zunft gegen\u00fcber erachte. Damit hindert man uns daran, unseren Job bestm\u00f6glich zu erledigen. In meinen Augen genause unversch\u00e4mt, als wenn man den Musikern verbieten w\u00fcrde, Ihre Anlage aufzudrehen. Muss man echt nicht haben!!<\/p>\n

Uriah Heep’s \u201cThe Magician’s Farewell Tour\u201d did not mean that this is the British band’s farewell tour. That has been announced for next year. I mistakenly associated the title with the album \u201cThe Magician’s Birthday\u201d and expected that the tour would mainly focus on songs from that album. Obviously, a \u201cFreudian slip\u201d played a trick on me.
\nInstead, the guys around original member Mick Box and \u2018new\u2019 singer Bernie Shaw presented an excellent cross-section of their creative years since their formation in 1969. I must apologize for the term \u201cnew\u201d singer, though; after all, he has been with the band since 1986. But since I grew up with Heep in the 60s, David Byron has always been very present for me.
\nUriah Heep tore the roof off that evening and thrilled the audience from the first minute to the last. Many a young band could learn a thing or two from the energy and, above all, the enthusiasm of these guys.
\nOnce again, a great show by the hard rock veterans, which already has us looking forward to their announced farewell tour.<\/em><\/p>\n

Finally, a few words about the photo rules. While we accredited photographers were still allowed to take photos from the pit during the support bands‘ sets, for Heep we had to move to the back of the hall to the FOH (front of house – mixing console). We were only allowed to work from there. Unfortunately, this was not announced in advance, so we could have prepared ourselves with stools, etc. I doubt that it was the band’s wish to banish us photographers from the pit. It was more of a \u201cwhim\u201d of the organizer or management, which I consider extremely disrespectful to the photography profession. This prevents us from doing our job to the best of our ability. In my opinion, it’s just as outrageous as forbidding musicians from turning up their equipment. Really not necessary!<\/em><\/p>\n
